Born out of late nights in the studio and a growing pile of scans, clippings, and sketches, this book is a personal exploration of Hattie's collage and illustration practice. It pulls heavily from her personal magazine collection - vintage ads, muscle mags, strange graphics, half-forgotten headlines/copy - and reimagines them through layered compositions with added playful hand-drawn elements.
Visual Stimulation is part visual journal, part intuitive experiment. Think reading the tea leaves meets DIY visual motivation. It’s filled with combinations of completely unrelated imagery that collide to create new messaging... less sexual, more sensual. less overwhelming more motivating etc - playful subliminal images that reassure and inspire... visual debris turned into Visual Stimulation :)
This second volume of the almost sold out series is a continuation of these ideas, with a touch more chaos!
