Publishing Practices Workshop

Join the Pagemasters team for a hands on introduction to zine making and independent publishing. Drawing on our experience in Risograph printing and small press publishing, we'll share how ideas move from first concept to finished page, with insight into DIY print culture and collaborative making.

The session starts with a presentation of our titles, spotlighting some of the work on the communal table and in our archive. Through these examples we'll look at the creative process behind self publishing, how artists, designers and small presses build visual narratives, experiment with formats and use Riso within independent publishing today.

Participants will then be encouraged to explore the fair with their own bespoke workbook, full of prompts and tips to help turn your ideas into print projects.

There's time at the end to share what you've made, ask questions and meet other creatives in the room.

Open to anyone curious about print, design or publishing, no experience needed, just come and have a go. Riso printing gets a mention for context, but the focus is on designing and making your zine, not the printing itself.
